Hello! I am Jaha Hughes, a candidate for mayor in the city of Boston. I am a new politician. The type of politician that is needed to strengthen our city.

 

Boston has been controlled by Democrats solidly for over fifty years. While Boston surges with condominiums, new businesses, and wealth, certain communities, like Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Chinatown, are rife with crime and violence. The people elect Democrats because Democrats claim to fight for regular Americans. The Democratic Boston Leadership has failed to fulfill that mission in Boston. Democrats have betrayed all the principles they claim to believe in.

 

Democrats say they fight for the impoverished. In Boston today, there are over 115,000 Bostonians in poverty. Democrats claim they fight for regular Americans. Yet, in Boston, they have created a hostile environment for businesses with taxes and unjust rules. Hurting businesses often have to lay off or get rid of employees. That hurts regular Americans.

 

As a black child, I was told Democrats are the only political ally of black people. As I grew up, I believed that murders and crime were part of being black in a city. It was not until I grew older that I saw that it was just the black communities where crime was allowed to run rampant. I noticed the communities of Dorchester, Chinatown, Roxbury, and Mattapan have been left behind. Left behind by wealthy and elite, pampered Democrats who do not represent Bostonians or lead our great city. Chinatown, Roxbury, and Mattapan are facing exuberant rents, unfair city towing practices, poor schools, and high crime rates. The rest of Boston is doing better.

 

I hope you can see that I am different. I say things with evidence that needs to be said. I want to be your mayor. I will be the representative to fight for the communities left behind. I will work to strengthen businesses. Uplift those who need a hand. Keep strong those who are doing well in our city. We are in this together. I offer tangible proposals that will make Boston stronger, safer, healthier, and better for all. I need your support to make positive changes.
